Solar and Wind Energy Production Shows Growth in 2024
By Anshula Mandaokar , 27 December, 2024
Solar and wind energy transitions are happening at a faster pace in 2024. This is due to the growing demand for renewables in the energy market. The clean energy transition in the energy sector aims at renewable energy sources for clean fuel production. Hence, renewable-based energies have grown over the period. A survey in 2024 shows that solar and wind energy uptakes reach 5.4 terawatts in 2024.
Data from the survey shows that there is a significant increase in solar and wind capacity within the period of 2023-2024. It shows a growing affinity for renewables in light of the clean energy transition. Green energy transformation shows a drastic increase in energy storage in 2024. According to the survey's data, the global renewables total up to 8 terawatts of renewables, solar, and wind power in 2024. Simultaneously, it has the highest-growing energy storage capacity in renewables, with a growth of 600 percent, as reported by the survey. Hence, solar and wind energy growth makes them the fastest-growing markets in the energy sector 2024.
Experts claim that solar and wind energy uptake is due to country-level clean energy policies. These regulations aim at lowering carbon emissions to a global level by the end of 2050. Therefore, researchers aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. The world seeks to electrify its economies by reducing emissions in 2024. This marks the growth of solar and wind energy at the industrial level. However, harnessing energy is an important aspect. Experts claim that with clean energy development, the problem of transporting renewable energy to homes and industries will be solved significantly.
