eSIM In Cellular IoT Devices To Reach 3.6 Billion By 2030
By Shubhendra Anand , 10 July, 2024
The embedded SIM card (eSIM) technology is experiencing exponential growth in the technology market for 2024. The growing adoption of eSIM can be attributed to consumers increasing affinity towards smartphones, electronics wearables, and the like. New studies in 2024 found that the Internet of Things (IoT) has installed eSIM cards, and demand will increase by 2030.
Based on the survey, eSIM card-installed devices will reach 3.6 billion by the end of 2030. eSIM has gained popularity with the increasing demand for IoTs, and the adoption of 5G technology and 4G LTE Cat-1bis is responsible for it. It has become more accessible for the IoT department to achieve faster efficiency with the eSIM cards in the technical sector. However, the industry requires a higher rate of adoption of eSIM cards for proper implementation in the market. Smartphone consumers tend to be the leading consumers of eSIM cards in 2024. The technological sector has upgraded in the past few years. Therefore, consumers will prefer smart wearables more or less than smartphones in 2024. However, many researchers expect solutions to be released to consumers sooner. Hence, the IoT industry believes eSIM will gain momentum by the end of 2030.
Experts cite that 5G cellular connections worldwide are also driving the growth of eSIM in 2024. There are numerous reasons to adopt eSIM over physical SIM cards. Therefore, eSIM wins the battle by up to 80 percent in eSIM versus physical SIM cards. It is easier for consumers to switch networks without manual SIM cards, and reliability and cost-effectiveness can be counted. Wearable electronics are getting more advantages from the eSIM compared to conventional sims. However, the industrial sector is advancing with eSIM to incorporate improved specifications in IoT devices by 2030.
