    • Nov 2023: Johnson & Johnson MedTech declared that the Chinese authorities had approved its Monarch bronchoscope and Monarch platform. With its approval, Monarch is now the first robotically assisted, minimally invasive device authorized in China for peripheral lung treatments. Additionally, it is the first robotically assisted Johnson & Johnson MedTech technology to be approved in China. The regulatory approval also represents Monarch's first major achievement outside the United States. For the business, which last week released an update on its Ottava surgical robot, it is yet another encouraging development in the surgical robotics field. To enter the robotic surgical business, J&J acquired Monarch in 2019, paying $3.4 billion to acquire Auris. It was already FDA-approved for bronchoscopy, and it was approved for endourological procedures last year. The business created the system to enable access to and bronchoscopic viewing of adult patients' airways.

    • Aug 2023: Enrollment in a major clinical trial exploring the use of Femasys' biopolymer, which helps permanently seal the fallopian tubes to prevent conception, has begun, according to the US-based medical device company. The business will use the prospective, multi-center FINALE trial to assess the likelihood of pregnancy in women who utilized the device for a full year. The analysis will take place once 401 users have utilized the device, but to obtain safety data, the business will also read the data sooner at a checkpoint with 50 participants. The only method for long-term birth control available now is tubal ligation, which entails surgically cutting, tying, or blocking the fallopian tubes.
