IoT chips, generally referred to as IoT modules or radio chips, are small electronic devices that are integrated into machines to enable connectivity with wireless networks and data transfer. These chips are characterized by their always-on connectivity, which allows users to automatically send data in real-time without using any button. An IoT module is a broad term that includes sensors, processors, on-chip and off-chip memory types, I/O and interface IPs, and chiplets. These modules are then used as SoCs, custom ASICs in the cloud, 2.5D chips for the networks and servers, and fan-out wafer-level packaging for MEMS and sensor clusters. The increasing demand for connected wearable devices along with advancements in AI, 5G, and IoT has contributed to the growth of the global IoT chips market.   • In December 2018, Silicon Labs launched its next-generation Z-Wave 700 solution on the Wireless Gecko platform—one of the most comprehensive hardware and software connectivity solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT).
