United States May Face Shortage in Supply of Natural Gas in Winter 2023

By Shubhendra Anand , 22 December, 2023

The United States faces the problem of natural gas supply in 2023 due to a shortage of pipelines. The researchers warned about the same in the earlier phase of 2023 that a lack of channels also makes the natural gas supply vulnerable.
Natural gas pipelines are also vulnerable to electric outages. In the United States, all primary energy is from natural gas. Natural gas supplies up to 32 percent of the primary energy in the United States. Earlier, the international natural gas pipeline between the countries was mainly for the natural gas pipeline, whereas it has changed to electric power. Experts believe the natural gas pipeline is more trustworthy than the electric power system. The largest gas producer in the United States, EQT, has also released a report citing the same problem of pipeline shortage for the natural gas supply. One of the studies shows that the United States requires a more significant number of natural gas pipelines for power supply in the United States households and power grid.
Another study shows that two-thirds of the United States in the winter of 2023 may face the risk of blackouts due to a lack of sufficient infrastructure for the gas supply. The shortage in natural gas supply may elevate the issue of electricity cuts, primarily in the United States, in winter 2023. The pipeline shortage leads to many problems; the studies show that it will affect electricity production in the winter of 2023. Therefore, the authorities are well prepared to control the fuel adequacy and pay attention to extreme winter conditions in 2023.
