United States’ Electricity Generation from Natural Gas makes New Records
By Shubhendra Anand , 17 February, 2025
The United States is moving fast towards renewable production. Among several reasons behind this transition, green energy transformation is the major one. The United States drilling activities have reduced in 2024. However, natural gas production in the United States remains at an all-time high in 2024. Further, this leads to high electricity generation from natural gas. A survey shows that the United States will generate the highest electricity from natural gas in 2024.
Based on this survey's data, the United States' electricity generation from natural gas made new records in 2024. Firstly, the nation suffered staunch criticism for the highest natural gas production. It rose despite the drilling activities having decreased since the beginning of 2024. However, excessive natural gas production meets the growing demand for electricity in the United States. Experts claim that the United States will hit a record in natural gas demand in 2024. The nation successfully stores this natural gas due to its high storage levels. Further, the natural gas prices for 2024 remain relatively low due to extensive storage facilities in the United States.
The surveys show that the United States's wholesale natural gas prices hit record lows in the initial months of 2024. This indicates the growing demand for electricity in the United States. It shows that electricity production from natural gas helps in the clean energy transition. Natural gas is a better alternative to fossil fuels regarding carbon footprints. Therefore, the United States' electricity demands fulfilled with natural gas are anticipated not to hinder the progress in the transition to clean energy.
