Blue Shield of California members in Southern California recently got access to additional medical care services for various illnesses and injuries in the comfort and convenience of their own homes due to a partnership with DispatchHealth (US). The association is a part of Blue Shield of California's Health Reimagined strategy, which aims to transform healthcare by advancing personalized, holistic, tech-enabled patient care. Blue Shield of California is a tax-paying, non-profit, independent member of the Blue Shield Association, with 4.7 million members, 7,800 employees, and USD 22.9 billion in annual revenue.
DispatchHealth provides in-home, same-day, high-touch care delivered by a team of trained medical professionals who can treat more than 40 health conditions, including respiratory infections, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Care is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in both English and Spanish. Bridge care (assistance transitioning high-risk members from hospital to home care) is also available to aid members' recovery and prevent hospital readmissions.
Blue Shield of California members enrolled in preferred provider organization (PPO), or health maintenance organization (HMO) plans and live in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, or San Diego counties can use DispatchHealth services. Members with HMO plans must be referred by their primary care physician.
