Technologically Advanced Air Purifiers to Gain Traction in the Indian Market
By Garvit Vyas , 01 December, 2022
Air pollution has become an unending issue. Rapid economic expansion and urbanization, particularly in megacities, influence air quality. Indoor air quality can also be affected by poor air quality. Deteriorating indoor air quality, increased health concerns, consumer awareness of lifestyle-enhancing devices such as air purifiers, and technical breakthroughs are likely to boost the demand for air purifiers. Their efficiency has skyrocketed air purifier sales statistics, particularly in India. India’s fastest-growing economy is home to 22 of the world's 30 most polluted cities. Manufacturers, confronted with the potential of increased demand in tier 2 and 3 cities in addition to tier 1 cities, are expanding their product line, incorporating better technology, investing in marketing, and actively pushing their brands.
IIT Kanpur unveiled an innovation in November 2022 in partnership with experts from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The 'Anti-Microbial Air Purification Technology' was developed for air filters. The innovative air purification technology employed in these air filters has successfully demonstrated its efficacy in protecting humans from potentially lethal pathogens. This created a one-of-a-kind method to convert air conditioners into inexpensive air purifiers throughout the winter season.
This invention comes in the form of a simple, helpful gadget that can be readily installed atop standard air conditioners and used by turning on the 'fan mode.' Havells Studio made its debut in India, in the air purifier category, on November 8, 2022, with the release of the Meditate, which includes an AQI (Air Quality Index) monitor. The new air purifier is driven by 'SpaceTech' air purification technology, which has been created, tested, and shown to be effective in removing dangerous gaseous contaminants. Equinox lab states that the air purifier has been tested and validated for performance in removing harmful gaseous pollutants as well as microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungal strains. LG Electronics, one of India's biggest consumer brands, will also offer LG PuriCare Wareable Air Purifiers in November 2022, a mobile, small, and wearable face guard air purifier packed with a set of HEPA Filters, Dual Fans, IPX4 Technology, and other features to aid in air purification.
