Semtech has Announced that Intent Technologies and Nexity Group will use LoRaWAN to Power a New Smart Building Platform
By Aarti Dhapte , 24 January, 2023
In September 2022, the LoRa® devices from Semtech and the LoRaWAN® standard will have been integrated into the Intent Platform by Intent Technologies, a leading provider of services for smart properties, and Nexity Group, a leading French provider of real estate services, according to a statement from Semtech Corporation. This will improve performance, improve service quality, and reduce the carbon footprint in residential and commercial properties.
For Nexity Group, the 10% operating cost reduction from the IntentPlatform smart building solution is already a success. The system has been successfully installed throughout French territory, covering more than 1.2 million residential units and more than 6 million square metres of office space. This LoRa-enabled smart properties solution gives real estate professionals 360-degree facility views and enables them to enhance a building's operational performance by exchanging data with more than 180 service providers and digital software vendors through a detailed dashboard with alerts on a single cloud platform.
The technology makes it easier to deploy, maintain, and use sensors on existing building infrastructures thanks to LoRa devices and LoRaWAN connectivity. In addition to cutting down on installation time, the technology also drastically lowers the cost and labour needed for battery changes throughout the course of the sensors' lifetime.
With over 5 million gateways and 270 million end nodes with LoRa devices installed worldwide and expanding, LoRa is the wireless platform of choice for the Internet of Things (IoT). The IntentPlatform is designed to make it simple to connect sensors to monitor air quality, temperature, energy use, and water usage. When anomalies are detected, like potential water or gas leaks, the platform will automatically alert property management and service providers for quick action and resolution.
"The benefits of IoT and the digital transformation in building management that is delivering efficiency, operational cost savings, and occupant safety is demonstrated by Intent and Nexity's product development and deployments," said Marc Pégulu, vice president and general manager for Semtech's Wireless and Sensing Products Group. "Smart buildings provide consumers and communities more choice over how they use energy responsibly. Semtech and the LoRaWAN ecosystem are dedicated to safeguarding the resources of our planet and improving the standard of living for people.
