The joint venture Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) between SGL Carbon and Brembo decided to increase production capabilities. In the months prior, both businesses collaborated with BSCCB on the terms and strategies for implementation. The production capacity at the locations in Meitingen (Germany) and Stezzano (Italy) will be expanded by more than 70% thanks to investments made by BSCCB totaling over €150 million through 2027.
Two new production facilities with a combined area of around 8,500 m2 will be built at the SGL Carbon Meitingen location as part of the capacity expansion, together with new production equipment.
Production space will be added to existing buildings at the Stezzano site, adding about 4.000 m2, and new production equipment will be purchased. Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) will be able to fulfil the high market demand and future expansion in customer demands thanks to the considerable expansion of production facilities. Worldwide demand for BSCCB's carbon ceramic brake discs rose. This is primarily attributable to the superior performance and product quality of carbon ceramic brake discs, which satisfy the unique demands of vehicle manufacturers, particularly in the premium and luxury classes, where excellent braking performance is required.

Toray Industries Inc. has chosen to increase the manufacturing capacity of its French subsidiary Toray Carbon Fibres Europe S.A. for normal tow medium- and high-modulus carbon fibres, the company stated today. By making this change, the Abidos plant's (located in South-West France) yearly capacity will rise from 5,000 to 6,000 metric tonnes. Beginning in 2025, production is anticipated.
