September 2023- Meta Platforms has unveiled its latest series of head-worn devices, staking the fresh claim to both the augmented and virtual reality industry, ahead of Apple coming into the market. This also marks a spin to mixed reality from virtual reality that melds VR and AR. For the company’s hardware business, this is truly a high-stake moment. The Quest 3 in fact is the most recent attempt for broadening the appeal of the technology. The headset users will be capable of transitioning between mixed reality and virtual reality, called XR with double tap on the device’s side. The wearer can utilize the more immersive virtual reality option while playing a game or watching a film and then moving towards XR mode while browsing the web & looking at images. During such circumstances, the images and data will get overlaid above the real-world views that surrounds the user.

June 2023- Speculations concerning Apple stepping into the AR and VR headset has been doing rounds online for about a decade or so and this is reportedly the year when the company is likely to launch its foremost AR/VR headset, called Reality 1 and Reality Pro. This handset will support both VR and AR alike. Another alluring characteristic of Apple’s unannounced headset is support for eye and hand tracking. This headset will be running a novel operating system known as xrOS which supports features such as games, Apple Books, and FaceTime calls. This battery will also have an external battery back that will sit in the pocket of the user.
