    • In August 2024, Abbott has launched a new rapid COVID-19 rapid test, which delivers results in less than 15 minutes. The test is based on sophisticated molecular technology that accurately identifies the virus and is therefore appropriate for home as well as clinical use. With this new diagnostic tool, Abbott hopes to enhance the turnaround time and the reach of tests and thereby help in reducing the impact of the pandemic. The new test is expected to be made available for sale starting September 2024.

This platform incorporates multiplex testing, which provides the ability to test for COVID and other respiratory pathogens at the same time. The enhancement of the system will be implemented in laboratories and patient care services in Europe and North America from August 2024.
