On December 5th, Royal DSM launched Vertis Textured Pea Canola Protein, which it claims is the first textured plant protein that includes all necessary values of the nine essential amino acids and is soy-free, gluten-free, and dairy-free. With a more flesh-like texture that customers want, Vertis is made for nutritionally attractive animal alternatives and plant-forward foods. Vertis Textured Pea Canola Protein includes pea protein, and the company's just launched Vertis CanolaPRO protein isolate. Brands may now produce meat substitutes and other plant-based foods that provide complete protein free of allergens because of the new canola component. Additionally, the protein can be combined with other DSM ingredients, such as its vegan EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids to enable alluring front-of-pack health claims without harming the marine ecosystem, as well as a variety of vitamin and mineral premixes to fill in various micronutrient gaps.
