Silicon nitride is a non-oxide advanced ceramic material, which exhibits hardness, toughness, high strength, excellent thermal resistance, and chemical stability. It has a maximum operating temperature of 1,300°C in an oxidizing atmosphere while in a natural atmosphere, it can tolerate up to 1,600°C.
