    Latest Company Updates:

November 2023- Wurm's Woodworking Company (WWC), a long-standing pillar in the New Washington community, has announced its recent thermoforming operations expansion project. The expansion encompasses nearly 20,000 square feet of additional space, a substantial capital investment in cutting-edge molding machinery and equipment, and an overall investment of USD 2.1 million. Throughout this expansion project, the company has remained committed to its workforce, retaining all 47 employees. Rick Wurm, one of the co-owners of WWC, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion. He said that the investments the company has made in the new building and equipment have allowed the organization to increase its plastic and vinyl upholstery production efficiency significantly. The company is thrilled about its new Faro 3D measurement technology, which will allow it to create thermoformed plastic or vinyl upholstery tools, CNC fixtures, quality inspections, and reverse engineer parts for 3D printing efficiently.

November 2023- The European Commission's draft end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) directive could force the automotive industry into the world of recycled plastic content targets – and the struggle to find adequate feedstocks that come with it. Included in the proposed new regulation is a goal to ensure that at least 25% of plastic used to build a vehicle comes from recycling – of which 25% is to come from recycled ELVs. Kaatze identified one main problem as getting access to recycled material, as well as the vehicles from which this recycled material needs to be taken. The automotive industry will be going from around 0.6m tonnes to 6m tonnes of demand based on the new targets, Kaatze said but stressed the problem was getting access to the raw materials needed. In Germany, 2.5m vehicles are deregistered every year, Kaatze said. These vehicles are supposed to go to a certified place to be broken up, but only 0.5m end up there.
