December 2023: Through the introduction of the MAN D3872 engine series, MAN Engines is broadening the range of engines it offers for workboats. The newly built V12 engine is suitable for medium- and heavy-duty applications, and it has a displacement of 30 liters, which is a first for the firm.


A entirely new basic engine serves as the foundation for the D3872, which, according to the manufacturer, is benefiting from the discoveries made by the well-established MAN D2862 V12 engine series. The wall thicknesses of the crankcase have been increased, the bolting mechanism has been adjusted, and a new crankshaft with bigger bearing sizes has been installed.
