A laser beam is a light that activates a gas, which then glows bright white, releasing an intense light. Laser lights have the strength that they are much smaller and can illuminate the road much further ahead. The system is a very recent technology as the introduction of laser light is an innovation in automotive lighting. The brightness emitted is almost nearly four times that of an LED today. It ensures that headlights can be made even smaller without affecting the intensity of light. It is important to note is that one is not looking at an actual laser while looking at a laser light. Three blue lasers located at the rear of the assembly shoot on a series of mirrors closer to the front is what happens with each flash.


The laser energy is focused by those mirrors into a lens filled with yellow phosphorus. The yellow phosphorus emits an intense white light when excited by the blue laser. That white light, on a reflector, shines backward. Then the reflector passes more reflected white light forward, shining it as a powerful beam from the front of the headlight casing, yet still able to be looked at by normal eyes. Another important thing that is driving the market for laser headlights is that the vehicle uses just about half the battery power, even though the individual lasers are 1,000 times brighter than LEDs. The immense proportion of battery power can be used to drive the engine when operating a hybrid or a commercial vehicle car.
