April 2023

A modular, cost-effective electric power steering system called the Modular rack-assisted Electric Power Steering (mREPS) system has been introduced by Nexteer Automotive. With its flexibility, Nexteer's mREPS is able to effectively satisfy the many OEM requirements for sophisticated steering systems in heavier cars, such as electric vehicles and light commercial vehicles.

Scalability is provided by mREPS by leveraging Nexteer's already-existing, industry-leading EPS building blocks. Scalability gives OEMs cost- and time-efficient efficiencies, including quicker development cycles and a higher rate of component reuse on vehicle platforms.

A full-cylindrical integrated powerpack is another characteristic of Nexteer's mREPS, which enables increased safety and reliability for SAE ADAS Levels 3 through 5 in a small package. A responsive steering system is also made possible by mREPS thanks to specially developed, high-performance torque and position sensors.

In order to provide an optimized solution that improves safety, flexibility, convenience, and efficiency, mREPS makes use of Nexteer's existing, market-leading electric power steering building blocks.
