Fuel type is the segmentation that carries the most strategic weight, because it determines both compliance status and price exposure. VLSFO and HSFO together still supply the overwhelming majority of energy delivered, yet nearly all incremental capital is flowing toward LNG, methanol and certified bio-blends.

Delivery method rarely appears in headline analysis, yet it determines cost per tonne and time in port. Ports that combine mass flow metering with barge availability consistently win volume from neighbouring alternatives, which is why Singapore and Fujairah keep extending their lead.
