The new REPLASBLAK product family of circular black masterbatches with certified material was introduced by Cabot Corp., a global manufacturer of black masterbatch. Plastics can be colored with black masterbatch, a granular mixture of black carbon pigment, resin, and additional additives.
The company's first black masterbatch products powered by Evolve Sustainable Solutions, certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC Plus), will consist of three new products. In three categories—recovered, renewable, and reduced—Cabot's newly launched Evolve Sustainable Solutions platform offers products with sustainable content and dependable performance at an industrial scale.
The REPLASBLAK rePE5475 100% circular black masterbatch, one of Cabot's newest black masterbatch products, uses 100% ISCC Plus mass balance-certified material made from reclaimed carbon from tire pyrolysis at the end of its life and mechanically recycled polyethylene. The material meets the voluntary add-on GHG emission requirements of ISCC Plus and has GHG emissions that are more than 60% lower than those of a standard black masterbatch, according to the company. The material can be used for compounding, recycling, injection molding, and sheet extrusion applications related to the automotive, agricultural, packaging, and building and construction sectors because it supports medium tint strength.

The first sales of Gerdau Graphene's enhanced Poly-G PE-07GM polyethylene masterbatch have been made, the company announced. Films, profiles, and sheets made by extrusion processes can be produced using this additive. Producing substantially less waste throughout the value chain and requiring less money to manufacture, the new thermoplastic products made with Poly-G PE-07GM have been shown to be stronger and perform better overall.
