Tablet Shipments Declined Over The Decade Expects To Rise In 2024

By Shubhendra Anand , 23 July, 2024

There is a growing demand for smartphones in the era of artificial intelligence. The technology-driven market prioritizes smartphones and personal computers (PCs) over tablets. It is due to consumers' convenience to reach out to smaller or larger versions, skipping the middle version devices. However, tablets have been a dispensable part of remote work culture in the past two to three years. The survey notes that tablet sales have declined in the market in a decade in 2024. It shows that tablet shipments worldwide have dropped to 128.5 million by 2023. However, the first quarter of 2024 shows signs of improvement with a 0.5 percent year-on-year growth percentage.

According to the survey on tablet shipment, the market suffered a sharp decline in tablet shipments in 2023 in the past twelve years. However, experts believe the market condition will improve in 2024 with a slight increase in tablet shipments in the year's first quarter. As reported by the surveys, global tablet shipment has declined by 17.4 percent year over year in the last quarter of 2023. This equals a decline of 36.8 million units in tablet shipments for 2023. However, at the beginning of 2024, tablet shipments reported up to 30.8 million units compared to 30.6 million in the first quarter of 2023. The electronics market relies on the economic structure 2024 for any new development in the sale of tablets. Experts note that tablet shipments declined because consumers prioritized saving funds overspending on electronics like tablets. However, delays in funding for new projects in the electronics market can be another reason for declining sales in 2023. Meanwhile, Apple survived to sell its tablets when the market was down, but it affected the fourth quarter sales of the company in 2023.

Experts believe that artificial intelligence's growing interest will remain on the periphery of smartphones and PCs in the upcoming years. Therefore, experts suggest that tablet sales may increase in 2024, provided the year sees economic stability and growth.
