Meta to Launch Subscription Services for Instagram and Facebook Users

By Aarti Dhapte , 23 February, 2023

Meta is taking the world along with it by taking control of Facebook and Instagram. It will roll out new subscription plans for Instagram and Facebook users soon.

As per the reports, Meta announced a newly paid verification service for its Facebook and Instagram users called Meta Verified, as said by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

According to the survey, users on Instagram and Facebook can submit their government ID and get a blue verification badge, all for $14.99 a month on iOS and $11.99 a month on the web. This service is expected to get released this week in Australia and New Zealand. Zuckerberg made it clear in a post that “This new feature is an increasing security and authenticity across our services.”

The company's new subscription plan is almost similar to Twitter blue, which is twitter's revamped service, which gives users a verification badge upon paying a monthly fee. Similarly, Meta has also granted verification to politicians, celebrities, members of the press, and some eminent personalities to signal their legitimacy, as the platform suggests.

Meta also lays down specific rules: the user must be at least 18 years old, submit a government-approved ID matching their profile photo and name, and meet minimum account activity requirements. The internal reports from the company also suggested "proactive monitoring" for account impersonation. And also, the users would be unable to change their username, profile photo, and name without going through the application process again.
