Merida has updated its whole line and unveiled its new Silex gravel bike
Merida claims that after five years, and after observing how the gravel industry has changed, the time was ripe to introduce an improved model of the Silex gravel bike. The recently introduced Scultura Endurance GR, according to the manufacturer, is best suited for one-day gravel racing, while the new Silex is more focused on multi-day gravel racing, bikepacking, and adventure riding.
As is the current trend for many of the top gravel bikes, there is now increased tire clearance for up to 45mm tires. There is a new geometry with choices for fender and dropper post compatibility as well as a longer reach and slacker head angle.
The Silex is more in line with the adventure side of gravel, where riders are more interested in venturing into the unknown and pushing themselves. In keeping with this, the manufacturer claims to have increased off-road capability to suit the most recent gravel equipment.
