Global nematicides market is likely to grow at a healthy CAGR of over 4.69% during the forecast period, 2022-2030

Market Research Future (MRFR) has published on the “Global Nematicides Market”.

Nematicides are substances produced chemically that either kill or negatively impact nematodes. These products may be nemastatic or nematicidal in their effects on nematodes. Nematicidal substances are extremely poisonous and kill exposed nematodes, whereas nemastatic substances do not really kill nematodes but instead prevent them from moving towards the roots of host plants or delay the hatching of their eggs. Any substance that is utilized to combat nematode diseases in vegetables is referred to as a "nematicides”. Based on how volatile they are in soil, nematicides are divided into fumigant and non-fumigant nematicides.

The global nematicides market is projected to witness significant growth during the forecast period, exhibiting a CAGR of 7.83% during the forecast period. The growing strategies adopted by major players to strengthen its foothold in the market to better serve the customers are likely to positively influence its market growth in the upcoming years. For example, in February 2019, At the Fruit Logistica 2019 trade show and exhibition in Berlin, Bayer, Netafim, and BGN Technologies, the technology firm of Israel's Ben-Gurion University, declared that they have signed a three-year research collaboration agreement. To create best practices for using drip irrigation as a delivery mechanism for the Bayer nematicide velum prime in Israel, the project will combine premier soil research, computerized prediction tools, and cutting-edge drip technology by Netafim. Recently, there has been a decline in popular approval of the use of chemical crop protection, which has led to political pressure and the disappearance of several products. Growers are now looking for sustainable agricultural solutions because crop protection is a crucial strategy for maintaining crop yields. With a brand-new, creative approach called DripByDrip, Bayer and Netafim have tackled this problem. Bayer's chemical and biological crop protection products are distributed using Netafim's drip irrigation systems.

Market Synopsis

According to the MRFR analysis, the global nematicides market size is projected to reach USD 4,020.69 million by 2032 at a CAGR of 7.83%.

Fumigant nematicides are poisonous substances with a range of effects. They may be helpful against a variety of soilborne illnesses and pests in addition to eliminating plant-parasitic nematodes. In high-value crops like vegetables, fumigants are used to decontaminate the soil and lower the risk of yield loss brought on by soilborne pests. When sprayed to soil, fumigant substances may dissolve into the water film that covers soil particles or travel as a gas through the gaps between soil particles to reach the target organisms. Fumigant nematicides can efficiently suppress plant-parasitic nematodes in a variety of soil types, but they work best in soils with coarser (sandy) textures than finer (clay) textures. In soils with water-filled pore space, the gaseous dispersion of fumigants may also be restricted. Additionally, soil temperature has an impact on fumigant volatility, with warm soils having higher volatility and cool soils having reduced volatility. When injected into soil at temperatures between 40 and 80 °F, Telone II (1,3-dichloropropene), for instance, exhibits promising nematicidal efficacy. Additionally, the efficient transport of the gases in the soil depends on adequate soil moisture. Therefore, excessive soil moisture will decrease the effectiveness of the fumigant nematicides.

Moreover, increased global population, rising food demand and the need to improve productivity in agriculture have contributed to a sustained growth of the nematicides market over past years. Increasing number of nematicides are being used by farmers and crop growers to protect their crops and maximise yields. Moreover, demand for effective nematicide solutions is being driven by changing weather conditions and the spread of invasive Nematode species..

COVID-19 Impact on Nematicides Market

The outbreak of the virus has impacted numerous walks of life leading to a global crisis. The extent of COVID-19’s impact on various economies due to the virus-related restrictions and obstacles in the production and shipping of the product and also in the service-providing sector is quite high. People's life has been entirely turned upside down by the COVID-19 outbreak, owing to its growing cases every day. Different industries are affected by COVID-19 differently. Every area of the economy experienced growth after the pandemic. Also, the commodity market has been affected by the virus outbreak in different ways ranging from credit availability to fluctuation in demand. However, various initiatives were taken by the government bodies in various regions worldwide to recover the country from post-pandemic. For instance, in May 2020, the US government invested USD 2.2 trillion economic rescue package for U.S. businesses affected the most during the pandemic, including the automotive sector.

The supply chain of the nematicides market comprises manufacturers, distributors, and consumers. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the agricultural supply chain, as many countries were under lockdown and sealed their borders to curb the spread of the virus. Every area of the economy has experienced development since the COVID-19 outbreak, and the agriculture supply chain is no exception. The pandemic crisis had an increasing influence on global commerce and supply chains as the world economy tries to cope with it, and this is due to the rapidly declining global investment flows. The transportation sector is experiencing instability as a result of the declining/unavailability demand for products and raw materials. Strict containment measures implemented by governments of various nations and preventative steps to reduce the outbreak's effects have resulted in a large restriction on transportation, having a ripple effect around the globe. Due to the unpredictability of the global economy and efforts to correct the supply/demand mismatch, it is anticipated that this tendency will continue.

By Type

  • Fumigants: The Fumigants is a method of pest control that requires stuffing the affected areas with fumigants, or gaseous pesticides, in regulation to choke the pests. This process is usually used for agricultural applications but is also used for construction fumigation in buildings. Constructional fumigation is when a tarp is placed over a structure in order to hold the fumigants and authorize them to stab through cracks and crevices to reach and exterminate pests such as dry wood termites, bed bugs, and wood-eating beetles. This method is one of the most effective techniques of pest control. Structural fumigations are controlled by using sulfuryl fluoride, a colorless, odorless, lethal gas, which is heavier than air

  • Carbamates: Carbamates are esters of N-methyl carbamic acid. Carbaryl, propoxur, aldicarb, oxamyl and terbucarb are carbamates. It is used as sprays or baits to kill insects by affecting their brains and nervous systems. They are used on various crops on farms and in homes to kill ants, cockroaches, fleas, crickets, whitefly, aphids, scale, lace bugs, and mealy bugs. Some carbamates control mosquitoes. And these pesticides are generally divided into N-allyl carbamate herbicides and N-methylcarbamate insecticides in view of their chemical structures and biological actions.

  • Organophosphates: Organophosphates are phosphoric acid esters or thiophosphoric acid esters. Their original substance was highly toxic to mammals. Organophosphates is developed since then and are less toxic to mammals but toxic to target organisms, such as insects. Dibrom, chlorpyrifos, Malathion, temephos, diazinon, and terbufos are organophosphates. It is used as insecticides, medications, and nerve agents as a weapon

  • Others: The other segment includes biochemicals (DiTera, ClandoSan, Sincocin). By Form

  • Dry: The dry form is a solid form of dosage including finely divided substances considered for absorption or external application. This form is a finely divided state, and a solid substance, typically sorted through grinding, crushing, and comminating. The dry form is present in powder form, that is, a powder is referred to as a dry, bulk solid substance of many very fine particles that may flow freely when shaken or tilted. Powders are a special sub-class of a granular substance, whereas powder and granular are sometimes used to differentiate separate classes of material. The dry form is a loose substance or material that is made up of extremely tiny, dry, solid grains.

  • Liquid: A liquid is a type of matter that is a specified application that makes it less stiff than a solid but more rigid than a gas. A liquid can flow and does not have a particular shape like a solid. Instead, a liquid observes the shape of the vessel in which it is held. Whereas, this is similar to a gas, and the liquid does not expand to fill up the container like a gas. The liquid form is of two categories pure liquid and liquid mixtures. Chloropicrin is used as a pre-plant soil fumigant to regulate the nematodes and soilborne diseases in various other crops. It is produced in liquid form with an average vapor pressure, and it spread quickly through soil when applied below the soil surface under a tarp.
