Most Spoken Languages over the World in 2023

With different sounds and history, there are 7000 languages spoken all over the world. Some languages are more spoken due to various reasons like- number of native speakers or number of people speak it as their mother tongue or treat it as the second language.

When it comes most spoken language in the world then Chinese and English top the chart. Thus, the most spoken language in the world is Mandarin Chinese as it is voiced by around 1.1 billion people and it is also the official language of Mainland China.

Next comes Spanish in the list, with more than 400 million people speaking this is the second most spoken language on this earth. Spanish is the authorised language of 20 countries.

With nearly 360 million people speaking English all over the globe, it is the third most spoken language in the earth. English is the authorised vocabulary of many nations and also used as a lingua franca in many parts of the world.

Next comes Hindi with 322 million speakers, it is the fourth most spoken language for communicating over the globe. Hindi is the authorised language of India and is used as lingua franca in some parts of the country as well.

The fifth most spoken language is Arabic with over 200 million speakers. Arabic is the lingua franca in many parts of the world and also the official language of many Arab countries.

Bengali ranks as the sixth most spoken language with more than 190 million speakers. It is the authorised language of Bangladesh and also utilised by many other nations.

Next comes, Portuguese ranking seventh in the chart with nearly 180 million spokespersons. It is also the authorised language of Brazil, Portuguese and other nations.

Russian is the eighth most spoken language on the earth, with nearly 150 million spokespersons. It is authorised language of Russia.

Japanese language with over 130 million speakers all around the globe ranks as the ninth most spoken language. It is the official language of Japan and also used as lingua franca in many parts of the world.

German is the tenth most used language in the planet with more than 100 million spokespersons. It is the authorised language of Germany.
