Babcock International Renews Its Contract with the UK Air Ambulance Charity

Babcock, a UK provider of specialist air ambulance operations, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) charity in the United Kingdom have agreed to a three-year contract extension. Babcock will continue to provide HIOWAA with an Airbus H135 air ambulance helicopter outfitted with night vision goggles (NVIS) technology, maintenance, airworthiness management, highly trend pilots, and engineering, under the terms of the agreement. Flight hours will also be increased to 19 per day for full-time pilots.

CXO of Hampshire and Isle of Wight state, “Extending our flight hours to 19 hours a day, every day, will guarantee we can continue to offer critical care to people who need it the most. Concerning requirements, Babcock is handling our aviation needs, teams of physicians, paramedics, pilots, and dispatch assistants can focus on saving lives in our region.”

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) receive no government financing and are solely supported by the generosity of people and organizations. It costs the organization around USD 3,750 for each mission to maintain its air ambulance service, which costs USD 17,000 per day. It flies four missions each day on average, including scene work.

Further, in September 2022, Babcock and the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) agreed to a five-year contract extension to keep the helicopter emergency medical service flying and saving lives.

Babcock will continue to offer the charity special aviation assistance, including helicopters outfitted with cutting-edge technology, ground highly qualified pilots, support, and engineers under the terms of the contract.
