On Jun. 26, 2023, Airbus announced a new drone pilot training course in India at its training center in Bengaluru. The five-day program is designed for micro and small-category drones, covering theory and flying lessons to boost the knowledge of aspiring drone pilots and deepen capabilities in the fast-developing drone sector in India. The course is approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The aircraft maker commits to upskilling India's aviation infrastructure.

On Aug. 31, 2023, The Royal Air Force announced the beginning of training instructors on the Protector UAV simulator in the US. The RAF's 54 Squadron Personnel are conducting the first Instructor Operating Course (IOC) on Protector simulators at the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) Flight Test & Training Center, Grand Forks, North Dakota. The objective of the course is to create RAF-specific training material and scenarios for Protector crews. Simulated missions include ISR activity to locate and track designated targets on the ground, with the pilot maintaining an optimum position in the air.

On July 18, 2022, Microsoft launched a simulator to train drone AI systems of autonomous aircraft. Project AirSim is a drone flight simulator enabling companies to train and develop software controlling them. It enables flight testing that would be too risky in reality, such as near power lines. Microsoft claims that Project AirSim can simulate millions of flights in seconds. The firm envisages the tech will be used to train the AI systems, enabling flights of autonomous air vehicles, including air taxis and delivery drones.
