  Oct 2023: According to Astellas Pharma Inc., the European Medicines Agency Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted a positive opinion on October 12 regarding the use of VEOZA™ (fezolinetant) 45 mg every day for the treatment of mild to severe vasomotor symptoms (VMS) related to menopause.4. Hot flashes or night sweats, commonly referred to as VMS, are typical menopausal symptoms.5,6 Fezolinetant will be a first-in-class, nonhormonal therapeutic option to lessen moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms (VMS) associated with menopause if authorized by the European Commission (EC). To lessen the incidence and severity of hot flashes and night sweats, fezolinetant prevents neurokinin B (NKB) from binding on the kisspeptin/neurokinin B/dynorphin (KNDy) neuron. This helps to restore equilibrium in the hypothalamus, the brain's temperature control center.
