Ardagh Glass GmbH, a branch of Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) - Europe, has begun construction on an innovative hybrid furnace to aid in the transition of its glass production facility in Obernkirchen, Germany to renewable electricity. The integration of hybrid technology in the appropriately named 'NextGen' furnace will mark a significant milestone in the company's decarbonization journey and a major step towards meeting the emissions target outlined in Ardagh's 2030 Sustainability Strategy. This integration will result in a noteworthy 60% reduction in CO2 emissions.

The company intends to make significant investments in a sustainable future for glass packaging over the next few years by installing the NextGen Furnace and other low-carbon solutions at other AGP operations.

Amcor and Tyson Foods have joined hands to develop a more environmentally friendly packaging for consumer goods in an effort to lessen packaging pollution. With Amcor's AmPrima recycle ready forming/non-forming flexible film, Tyson Foods' new packaging partnership delivers up to a 70% reduction in carbon footprint compared to traditional packaging. Made of Amcor's AmPrima recycle ready forming/non-forming flexible film, it will be used for Jimmy Dean egg bits and frittatas from Tyson Foods.

The packaging is made to be recycled curbside or in-store, minimising the quantity of plastic trash generated. Compared to traditional packaging, it offers a 70% carbon footprint reduction and a 42% water use decrease.

The package offers an 80% decrease in non-renewable primary energy demands, a 70% reduction in carbon footprint, and a 68% reduction in water use when recycled via curbside collection or in-store drop off.
