  • October 2021- Wärtsilä, the Finnish technology group, is set to work alongside a Norwegian shipping company to deploy a full-scale carbon capture and storage system aboard one of the Wärtsilä’s present ethylene tankers. Wärtsilä Exhaust Treatment has inked a Letter of Intent with Solvang ASA to model and retrofit the 2019-built Clipper Eos with a pilot CCS system by the year 2023. The contract is newly associated with Wärtsilä’s R&D carbon capture to decarbonize the shipping industry. Wärtsilä is primarily focusing on achieving a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions at the point of finish with its pilot unit.

  • October 2021- A Swiss multinational specialty chemicals company, Clariant’s latest catalyst for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODH-E) for ethylene production maybe start using in new plants by 2024-2025. The ground-breaking catalysts were produced by Clariant and Linde Engineering and are looking forward to making ethylene production through ODH-E commercially feasible and will curb out the carbon footprint by over 60% without carbon capture versus conventional steam cracking.

  • In June 2019, a joint venture named gulf coast growth ventures was formed between exon Mobil corporation and SABIC, and the construction of a chemical facility and an ethane steam cracker was announced by them in Texas. The facility is aimed at producing material that will be used in the manufacturing of various products such as automobile coolants, packaging, and construction materials. In addition to this, the facility will also have two polyethylene units and a mono-ethylene glycol during the examination period.
