## Market Summary

## **Tetanus Treatment Market Overview**

The tetanus treatment market is projected to reach USD 0.46 Billion by 2030 at 6.3% CAGR during the forecast period 2022-2030.

Tetanus is an infection that is a bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani. The bacteria create a poison (toxin) that causes painful muscular contractions when they enter the body. Tetanus is unique among vaccine-preventable diseases in that it does not transfer from one person to another. The bacteria can be found in various things like in soil, dust, and manure, and can enter the body through skin breaks, such as cuts or puncture wounds created by contaminated things. In the United States, tetanus is infrequent, with an average of 29 cases reported each year from 1996 to 2009.

Roche’s Multiple Sclerosis newcomer, Ocrevus, obtained FDA approval last March with a warning on immunization; now, clinical data compiled by researchers shows that it can interfere with the effectiveness of certain vaccines. In a phase 3b study funded by Roche, scientists examined immune responses to tetanus, seasonal flu, and pneumococcal vaccines as well as neoantigen keyhole limpet hemocyanin in over 100 MS patients who were either on or not on Ocrevus. It happened that patients under ocrelizumab had lower vaccine-induced immunity across the board.

The percentage of treated subjects whose antibody titers for tetanus reached protective levels was 24% versus 55% in those without Ocrevus. For seroprotective titers against five influenza strains (ranging from 75% to 97%) and (55.6% -80%), respectively

On January 15th, 2024, the Ministry of Public Health launched an annual vaccination campaign against tetanus, diphtheria, and whooping cough (Tdap), which will be targeting private schools while other public schools are included since January 28th through collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Primary Health Care Corporation.

This year, the campaign is meant to be aimed at vaccinating grade ten students in independent, private, and governmental schools within Qatar. “Vaccination campaign against Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis annually being implemented aims at boosting boys’ girls’ students’ immunity towards these three diseases,” emphasized Dr Hamad Al-Rumaihi – Director of Health Protection & Communicable Diseases Control Department at MoPH.

With support from Gavi Vaccine Alliance partners, including WHO and UNICEF, amongst others, the Government of Nepal today launched a new vaccine campaign introducing Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) into the routine immunization programme across the country. The objective of the three-week campaign is to reach all children from 15 months to 15 years so as to ensure the faster achievement of broader protection from typhoid, increase the impact of vaccine introduction, and counteract growing antimicrobial resistance. Over 50,000 immunization sites have been established throughout urban and rural communities in Nepal, including schools.

Following this campaign, TCV will be added to the routine immunization schedule for administration to children at 15 months.

Tetanus treatment is a slowly increasing market. The Tetanus Treatment Market Share is expected to grow and be treated by various vaccines. Tetanus vaccines include Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP); Monovalent Tetanus Toxoid (TT); Tetanus, Diphtheria, And Pertussis (Tdap); Diphtheria and Tetanus (DT); Diphtheria and Tetanus (DT); and more. The pediatric vaccines DTaP and DT are given to children under the age of seven, whereas Tdap and Td are given to children aged seven and up, where the lowercase letters 'd' and 'p' represent the lesser strengths of diphtheria and pertussis vaccines.

**COVID Analysis**

COVID-19, a novel coronavirus disease caused by the new coronavirus 2019-nCoV (now officially known as severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus), poses a pandemic threat to worldwide public health. ## Segment Insights

### By Type: Nebulizers (Largest) vs. Inhalers (Fastest-Growing)

In the Tetanus Treatment Market, the distribution of market share between nebulizers and inhalers reveals a clear leader. Nebulizers dominate this segment due to their effectiveness and ease of use in delivering medication, enabling a larger share compared to inhalers. Healthcare providers frequently prefer nebulizers for acute tetanus cases, contributing to their substantial market presence. In contrast, inhalers are gaining traction among healthcare providers for their convenience and portability, though they currently hold a smaller market share in this specific market segment.

Device Type: Nebulizers (Dominant) vs. Inhalers (Emerging)

In the Tetanus Treatment Market, nebulizers are recognized as the dominant device type due to their widespread adoption and proven efficacy in delivering therapeutic agents directly to the respiratory system. They provide consistent, high-fidelity dosage, making them essential in critical treatment scenarios. Inhalers are quickly emerging as a preferred alternative, especially among patients seeking greater flexibility and ease of use. Despite their smaller current market share, their portability and advancements in inhalation technology position them as strong candidates for future growth, appealing particularly to younger patients and those with active lifestyles who may require outpatient management of tetanus treatment.

### By End-User: Adults (Largest) vs. Kids (Fastest-Growing)

In the Tetanus Treatment Market, the distribution of end-users is significantly skewed towards adults, who represent the largest segment. Growth trends within the end-user segments show that adults remain the dominant consumer group for tetanus treatments. However, the growth rate in treatments for kids is outpacing that for adults, driven by the rising focus on immunization and enhancement in educational outreach regarding tetanus prevention. This shift highlights a significant opportunity within pediatric care initiatives that emphasize early vaccination and treatment access.

End-User: Adults (Dominant) vs. Kids (Emerging)

The adult segment in the Tetanus Treatment Market stands as the dominant force, primarily due to higher risk factors associated with occupational injuries and a robust healthcare infrastructure that focuses on adult vaccinations and treatments. Adults often have greater exposure to various environments, which increases their likelihood of contracting tetanus. In contrast, the kids segment is emerging as a critical focus area, influenced by public health campaigns encouraging vaccinations among children. This segment is characterized by proactive parental attitudes towards health and nutrition, with healthcare providers increasingly advocating for early tetanus immunization. As awareness grows, the demand for pediatric tetanus treatments is expected to rise, showcasing an evolving landscape where childhood health initiatives are increasingly prioritized.
