Chip-on-board LED is a type of LED packaging wherein multiple LED chips are bonded directly on a substrate thus forming a module. The small size of LED chip allows high packing density than other technologies such as surface mount resulting in high lighting intensity. Chip-on-board LED is used for several applications out of which spot lighting and directional lighting are some of the major applications under general lighting segment. The increasing adoption of solid-state lighting technology as compared to traditional lighting is paving way for growth of chip-on-board LED market.
