September 2026: Sealed Air introduced CRYOVAC® ZeroPrep, a pre-filled pouch and dispensing system for foodservice applications. The system uses hermetically sealed pouches with an easy-open, resealable spout and is designed to reduce preparation and cleanup associated with rigid squeeze bottles. The VFFS system produces 8–16 fluid-ounce packs at speeds of up to 80 packs per minute and can achieve product yield of up to 97%. While designed for condiments and sauces, the development expands Sealed Air's flexible food-packaging and automated filling platform.
June 2026: Amcor installed its first Moda rotary vacuum chamber sealing technology in Brazil through a partnership with Barra Mansa Alimentos. The meat processor is using the technology as part of Amcor's expansion of integrated packaging equipment and materials in Latin America's protein market. The installation combines vacuum-sealing equipment with Amcor's broader flexible packaging capabilities for meat applications.
January 2026: Amcor showcased FreshCase® vacuum packaging and flexible solutions for fresh and processed proteins at IPPE 2026. The company highlighted FreshCase technology for extending shelf life, reducing retail markdowns, and lowering total packaging costs, alongside flexible packaging solutions for retail and foodservice protein products.
2026: Sealed Air continued expanding its CRYOVAC® food-packaging portfolio around vacuum and modified-atmosphere formats. Its polypropylene MAP trays are designed to reduce oxygen exposure and extend shelf life, while the HydroLoQ padless MAP tray eliminates the need for conventional absorbent pads in meat packaging. The company's portfolio covers both fresh and processed protein applications.
2026: Winpak continued commercial deployment of its ReForm® recycle-ready thermoforming film for processed meat. The primarily polyethylene, nylon-free structure is designed for vacuum and modified-atmosphere packaging of bacon, meat snacks, beef jerky, sausage, hot dogs, and deli meat. Winpak reports that ReForm provides high oxygen-barrier performance, deep-draw thermoforming capability and an available post-consumer recycled resin option.
March 2026: Mondi highlighted fibre-based and recyclable packaging development for meat, poultry and seafood supply chains. Its portfolio includes recyclable paper-based trays with barrier coatings, corrugated formats with ventilation, and plastic-free packaging designed for cold-chain transport. Mondi also identified moisture resistance, ventilation, structural strength and recyclability as key design requirements for meat packaging under increasingly stringent European packaging regulations.
