Online Shopping Trends 2015-2016

The proliferation of digital technology and high smartphone penetration has led to increase in online shopping during 2015-2016. Consumers are taking advantage of this technological encroachments to enhance their shopping experience. Consumers feel more comfortable searching online and reading expert reviews and user opinions as a first step in gathering initial information about a product or service. Saving time is a recurring rationale for online shopping. According to MRFR study, more than 31 percent of consumers shop online at least once per week, a 41 percent increase from 2 year ago. More consumers shop online at least once per month – 42 percent in 2016, compared to 40 percent in 2015. The findings indicate that consumers have become more comfortable ordering online and incorporating web purchases more frequently into their online shopping routines.
